Can Philanthropic Oligarchy Nuture Social Justice?, asks Rick Cohen in an article at NPQ riffing on Michael Edwards' work at Transformation. Not sure of the answers, I managed to get a few minutes with Mistress Candidia, my Ultimate Superior, and generous patron, the goddess of the free market, the maker of brands you trust, she who rules us all. She said, "That Mike Edwards cracks me up. So earnest and intellectual. Mr. Big Vocabulary speaking up for uneducated masses, like they could understand a word he is saying. What a hair cut! He probably cuts it himself to save money. He must think it is still 1965. He and Cohen ought to team up like George Burns and Gracie Allen. They could take turns being the straightman while the other fiddles with a cigar. Why are the rich rich, they wonder? Because we fucking deserve it! Duh! The losers, like Cohen and Edwards, are always bitching that it is the system's fault that they are so smart and so broke. That attitude is why they are losers. They ought to check their Four Capitals. They seem to be running low on all Four. The rich get richer, you dimwits, because we are a) Smarter b) more Virtuous c) more favored by God and d) better connected to Those who Matter. Cohen and Edwards can piss and moan all they want about Capitalism this and Capitalism that, Sweetie, but social justice is what we already have - Winners Winning. Losers Losing. And what could be worse than a Bad Loser? If Mike and Rick weren't so funny, I would buy their bosses and get them fired. Now get back to your cubicle, Phil, I want three posts by lunchtime that change the fucking world!"
