For quite a different take on some of the same data (and more), check out http://nationalaffairs.com/publications/detail/how-to-think-about-inequality. ... But it's a piece that will hardly sway folks who think higher taxes are the panacea for social ills. To paraphrase Rousseau, while ancient politicians spoke only of virtue, and modern ones only of economics, ours speak only of the tax rate on capital gains.
