Partnership for Philanthropic Planning:
The chairmen of President Obama's deficit commission, the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, have released their new plan, which proposes eliminating the charitable deduction and replacing it with a 12 percent non-refundable tax credit. This credit would only be available for amounts beyond two percent of a taxpayer's adjusted gross income. The Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) applauds efforts to address the budget deficit and national debt. However, PPP strongly opposes the Commission's characterization of incentives for charitable giving as "tax expenditures."
Are there any groups (other than HPP) or conferences (or a good conference track) that address broader sector-wide advocacy needs like? I see the tax thing rolling down the pipe, and hope it's not going to be addressed after the fact like the new 990s were (or pretty much anything out of Sen. Grassley's office---not that I disagree with all of them).

Association of Fundraising Professionals? Partnership for Philanthropic Planning? Those are the two that come to mind for the fundraisers. Then Council on Foundations? Advocating against the interests of the wealthy is ticklish business for those who need the good will of the wealthy.
