Via The Atlantic, mysterious trading algorithms may be the hidden hand of God, chance, or fraud, we dont know yet:
For now, Donovan plans to keep putting out the charts, which he calls "crop circles," of the odd trading algorithms at work. That's an apt name for the visualizations we see of this alien world of bot trading. And it certainly gets at a central mystery surrounding them: if trading firms aren't sending out these orders, how are they getting into the market?
And another aspect of this is that these supposed job openings are simply companies fishing for cheaper skilled workers. In other words, they are fully staffed but they want to see if they can land some quality players at rock bottom prices. Otherwise, they don't NEED to hire anyone. So those open positions really don't exist.
These algorithms are in the global milkshake. Odorless and tasteless, they thicken the plot. Suck hard to get your fair share.
