Recently, as part of a capital campaign, the President of The American College, Dr. Laurence Barton, offered The Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy currriculum to its current and past Board and Foundation Board. 29 signed up. What this shows, among other things, I believe, is that there is a hunger among those with Board level wealth to learn more about philanthropy, and their own role as board level leaders. I hope that what we learn in this program will result in board level programs to be offered at other nonprofits. "Everything that rises," wrote Flannery, "O'Connor, must converge."
