Hey Kim Bobo! As a Board member please let me suggest a name change is order, at least if you want Ford Foundation Money. How about Interfaith Worker Gaps? "Racial equality" and "social justice" are now deemed "nonstarters." Those who speak in such moral terms are insolent and will be slapped down, apparently. We live in a post-racial, post confrontational society in which owners and investors, all colors races and genders, manage the disparities, gaps, issues, and challenges produced by capitalism.
Above are reflections on a site oddly named, "Justphilanthropy," which rehearses in what sound to me like chastened tones the need to get past the concepts of social justice and racial equality. I hope the writers of the site are rewarded for their identification with the upper strata. Maybe these fast learners can be given a half day off on MLK day, or even get a job at Ford under the diversity mandate. How people can fear, or for that matter admire, the progressivism of Ford Foundation, beats me. This is what might as well be called Philanthro-Capitalism. A theatrical rendition of diversity which in practice counsels subaltern grantees in deference. Top management at Ford Foundation make, what? $675,000? I can see why talk of social justice is not welcome. Disparities to manage! Onward Managers! Onward investors and owners! Let us address gaps! Measure and manage that the grantees might be accountable!
