Bill,
Very kind of you to engage with us all at Tactical Philanthropy today. I can only imagine what it must feel like. A few years ago I managed to get Lenore Ealy to try blogging, but in the end she let it go. I would be very happy to serve as your back-door blog mentor, in the sense of helping you get the hang of the technology and protocol. In working with Lenore on this, it became apparent that the real issue was persona. "In what capacity do you blog?" I asked her. "Are you blogging as a private citizen, the exponent of a movement, or as someone hired to do so by a specific funder?" Blogging is all about voice, and the voice is best if personal and passionate, as your natural voice certainly is. To blog with comments on will force a writer to acknowledge inconsistencies, and be transparent about his or her role. In my professional life, as in yours, in all our professional lives, that is not an easy thing to do. We are, maybe, employees 24/7. Or are we? Can we sometimes just be citizens? You are such a lively mind. Ask Hudson if it is ok if you blog as a citizen and express your personal opinions, if only in parable. Or up and do it without permission. The worst thing that can happen is that you end up in the Dumpster with your fellow Philosophers.
I consider you a kindred spirit, and a civic friend. Your writing is constantly stimulating. If I can be of any real use to you, other than as a sparring partner, I would be happy to do it. Our little blogging circle would love to have you as a member, mentor, leader and fellow trouble maker.
Please forgive my satiric barbs, but we can't improve the morals of the poor until we look to our own. As a Morals Tutor to America's Wealthiest Families, funded by the world famous owner of Wealth Bond*ge, a Corporate-Style Bordello masquerading as a Think Tank, my own bona fides are admitedly somewhat shaky.
Phil
