B Corporations™ are a new type of corporation that are purpose-driven and create benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders. B Corporations™ are unlike traditional responsible business because they:
- Meet comprehensive and transparent social and environmental performance standards.
- Institutionalize stakeholder interests.
- Build collective voice though the power of a unifying brand.
Seems like a serious and important project by knowledgeable leaders in this area. Institutionalizing shareholder interests is an explosive topic, since stakeholder interests and stock holder interest may sometimes conflict. How these potential conflicts, between public and private good, are to be adjudicated, and how the governance of a B-Corporation will work, I am interested in seeing.
