Men in Philanthropy Surface at Council on Foundations Conference
I got an email from an anonymous tipster at the Council on Foundations Conference. He had just had an Orange Mimosa fueled lunch with one of the bloggers responsible for the short lived, and much missed, Men in Philanthropy. Apparently, the site was put up by a group of three women in philanthropy whose intent was to discredit us as men in philanthropy by making it appear we have a sense of humor. The site is gone; everyone is back to normal. Not even a smile. Back to saving the world.

I can see why they quit. Charity is Way Too Serious and Important for satire. Shoot, I just made one goofy joke about a giant talking liver and now it's really pissed.
No, wait, that's the kidneys.
Damn.

You "defamed" them? You might have to get yourself a good attorney, Mr. Trexler.

Yep, it seems people enjoy being reminded of infectious diseases when they go for a relaxing night out. Who knew?
It's clear I am not truly committed to charity, or else I would know not to joke about such things.

You must kiss the 6 ft high Liver and make up.

Looks like that won't happen. Turns out I'm not just stupid and malevolent; I'm not even funny.
Huh. When doctors say the liver excretes bile, they aren't kidding!

You must write for the average reader, with a legible style, and no depth. These internets no longer belong to the early adopter. We are media now; our readers are our customers. Treat them with respect, be they ever so dense.
