Appreciative Inquiry and its Discontents

Eyore "People and organizations do not need to be fixed. They need constant reaffirmation." - David Cooperider

"No one ever appreciates me," says Eyore, over at Omidyar.net.  "Everyone always says I am negative.  That makes me feel terrible. Why do you think I am always depressed? No one appreciates me."

What can we do to help poor Eyore?

  • Get him on anti-depressants.
  • Get him coaching on authentic happiness as learned skill.
  • Send him to the slaughter house without a trial.
  • Show him a little love and appreciation.
  • Hire David Cooperrider to mess with his mind.
  • Ask Eyore what is bothering him. Admit it bothers us to. Tell Cooperiter and these other corporate shills to tell top management that there is so something wrong with the organization, the CIA, the country, the media, Wall Street, the American Gulag, the Freedom Pens, and with the think tanks and consulting firms too. Tell him that unless he gets his own act together, and shows a little more courage when it comes to discerning truth from baloney he will be run out of town on a rail by an angry mob.  That is my recommendation. I suggested it to Eyore and he is all excited. He said I made him feel great. He is boiling the tar right now.  Want to join us? You'd feel a lot better.
