Recently, I received an email from David at Exquisite Safaris. He organizes philanthropic travel. From his note, I believe he would appreciate his thoughts being posted on the main page.
Philip -
I was moved by your recent thoughts on philanthropy. Eloquent, thoughtful, and inspirational: a true gift to anyone who takes a moment to read it. Recently, you asked me to share my professional experiences and if there were specifics that helped motivate me to begin my philanthropic work around Exquisite Safaris. Here is a snippet: My family experiences in far away places at a young age and 14 years as a US Army officer; honorably discharged after a voluntary resignation have clearly shaped my destiny and current direction. Seven years of life outside the USA, from Europe to Africa to Asia and South America awakened me to the fact that war is not the answer and militarism is the antithesis of philanthropy. The United States is now a militant nation. Fortunately, some of us Army officers learn quicker than others. Philanthropic travel is a long term alternative to war. I believe in peace and know many people who choose to live without fear and who intend to help those less fortunate while they explore the most beautiful places, cultures and historical sites with their children. Today, my passion is to leverage my international network and years of personal travel to facilitate heart to heart philanthropic adventures for those families ready to reject conflict and build peaceful solutions.
Thanks for your interest.
David
